D.A.P.E., Dallas Association for Parent Education, provides classes in Childbirth Preparation, Baby Care Basics, Parenting classes and Teacher/Parent Weekend Workshops. They also host several conferences each year for parents and teachers- these are called ”D.A.P.E. PRESENTS: Special Topics”. DAPE is solely supported through private grants, donations and class revenue; currently we receive NO direct federal/government funding.
The students worked well as a team. They took a much older website and completely updated its look and functionality. They gathered great photos to exemplify the purposes for DAPE. They organized the content well, including a table of helpful pdf files with advice for parents. And, the part I really enjoyed was that they worked well together as a team. Everyone did their part.
I serve as technical support for these teams. Although previously I had gotten help from my webhost to install WordPress, I felt ready to do it myself this time. I also created the database that WordPress runs on. When DAPE was ready, I used the Duplicator plugin to migrate the database and FTP to upload the php files to DAPE's webhost account. After setting up the webiste, I provided training for DAPE's staff so that they could update the website themselves.
